John Mecenas, MD
About
Dr. Mecenas specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Laparoscopy and Robotics). He founded the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Cayuga Medical Center when he joined the medical staff in 2002 and was Director of the Program until 2019.
Dr. Mecenas is a graduate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. He completed his residency in General Surgery at North Shore University Hospital on Long Island, NY then a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the NYU School of Medicine/Tisch Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
