Pain Management

Our compassionate specialists use a variety of methods to free patients from physical discomfort, increase functioning, improve quality of life, and aid recovery from illness or surgery.

About

Today, 25-30 percent of Americans suffer from chronic pain. It robs them of sleep, makes it difficult to earn a living, and effects their overall health and well-being.

Established in 1996, Cayuga Pain Management has always taken a multidisciplinary approach to treating chronic pain. We do this because in treating chronic pain it is necessary to consider all of its aspects: social, psychological, economic, physical, and spiritual. We frequently recommend conventional medical treatment in combination with complementary or alternative approaches to care.

At Cayuga Pain Management, we understand that patients suffering with chronic pain are under considerable stress. We listen carefully so that we can establish a partnership with you and work effectively as your advocate. And we are committed to staying abreast of the latest developments in the field.

The Referral Process

  • Your doctor will make a referral for you to Cayuga Pain Management.
  • Once the care team in the pain management center has heard from your doctor, we will review your symptoms and medical history. If we determine that you are a good candidate for our services, a member of our staff will contact you directly to set up your first appointment.
  • If your case is not appropriate for treatment here, your doctor will follow up with you.

What to Expect On Your First Visit

When you come to the pain management center, please bring:

  • a list of all medications you are currently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies
  • a list of your allergies
  • your health insurance information and photo identification for verification

Our team of physicians and nurses will evaluate your current health and review your medical history with you, including information about any recent appointments with your physicians or other care providers.

Your Role in Healing

Much of the success in your treatment depends on you. We count on you to follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely. We hope to help you manage your pain and heal, and part of that process is avoiding further injuries. Patients often begin to feel some relief from pain and then suffer a set back because they suddenly do too much walking or lifting. Healing is a gradual process.

what our patients are saying

“I have been a Hemo dialysis patient for almost Five years. Prior to dialysis and during dialysis I have had several trips to the ER, due to other health issues & was admitted to CMC more than a few times. Each and every time I’ve been there, whether in patient or out, I have been treated with respect, professionalism, and efficiency. I give this hospital 2 thumbs up!! Thank you CMC for taking care of me all these years!!”

“I have to say the last couple visits that I’ve had here have been wonderful. About a month ago I had an EGD and the staff were amazing! Explained everything in detail and made me feel at ease. I was very nervous and the nurse I had was very comforting. Tonight we had to take my son to the emergency room and they were awesome with him! We got right in. “

“The staff and accommodations at Cayuga Birthplace are amazing!!! This is what it I imagine it would feel like to be a celebrity getting VIP treatment. I wish I could stay longer – even the food options are 5 Star! The amenities are great. Everything is clean and designed beautifully. Not a single complaint, only praises!”

“I have had many occasions visiting CMC for myself and family. We have never had a bad experience there at all. Last October I had surgery and the nurses were amazing especially my night nurse. Thank you to all CMC staff for doing what you do every day with a smile.”
