Schuyler County COVID-19 Vaccine Update as of 2/11/2021
Adults with certain health conditions will be eligible to register for clinics starting next week
Schuyler County Public Health and Schuyler Hospital are providing an update on vaccination efforts in Schuyler County. To date, Schuyler County Public Health and Schuyler Hospital have provided 1,260 people with their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
“The number of vaccine doses local health departments, hospitals, and pharmacies are receiving is still very small” Schuyler County Public Health Director Deborah Minor stated. “I know everyone is anxious to get vaccinated as soon as possible, but I ask that you please be patient. Vaccination locations are adding clinics and opening registration as soon as they have doses available.”
“Our partnerships with Schuyler County Public Health and Schuyler County have enabled us to vaccinate so many county residents to date,” said Becky Gould, Schuyler Hospital President. “By working together, we have systems established to meet New York State eligibility guidelines and distribute as many vaccines as we are provided at a time.”
“We are also thankful for all of our community, business partners, and volunteers who have willingly donated their space and time for the good of the community,” Gould added. “I am proud of our county and the willingness to come together to make a difference.”
Schuyler County Public Health and Schuyler Hospital also provided the following updates:
• Adults with certain health conditions will be eligible to register for Schuyler County clinics starting February 15. Visit https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/phased-distribution-vaccine for the full list of health conditions that make someone eligible to receive the vaccine. Individuals who are eligible due to health status will need to provide a signed attestation to document their eligibility.
• Only individuals who are currently eligible can register to get vaccinated.
• Registration is required to receive a vaccine. If someone shows up without an appointment, they will not be vaccinated.
• Proof of eligibility – whether it is due to employment as a 1B-eligible essential worker, age, or health status – is required to receive a vaccine. Individuals without proof of eligibility will not be vaccinated.
Clinic details and links to register will be provided on Schuyler County Public Health’s website at www.schuylercounty.us/publichealth. New registration links can only be added when doses of vaccine are received from New York State. If no vaccine doses are received, or if fewer doses than requested are received, this will dictate whether clinics can be held that week. The website also includes pharmacy information for individuals 65 and older and answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
